Choosing a theme that will fit your new baby's nursery isn't always the easiest process. If you're not sure what the sex of the baby is you may not know what color or style you can do the room in. This is why you should try and get a neutral color that will work with either gender of baby. However if you are aware of which gender you are having you can change the theme around a bit. Really you will need things that will attract the baby's attention; they love to look at things when they are awake. This is why it's important to have a mobile in their crib that will help them go to sleep.
The life span of the theme you have picked out will probably be just as important as the gender. Will your child be happy with Looney Tunes, fire trucks, soft pinks, or baby blues when they are three or four years old? Are you planning on redoing the room as your child gets older? How often would redoing the room be considered too often for you? If you want to choose a room that has a longer life span with your child then you need to attempt to pick a less babyish or even toddler like theme. An idea of this might be the alphabet and numbers or animals.
If your child is a boy it can start and continue to be super heroes and cartoon characters. A more feminine theme for your little girl could be gardens, flowers, tea parties, and Disney princesses. These are timeless and can remain in your child's room until their early pre-teenage years.
You should choose a neutral color for your base of your child's room. From here you can simply add small decorations and furniture this way they can just be moved around, as your child gets older. This way you can add or remove themes without having to worry about changing the paint or wallpaper in the room.
You can keep the theme of a room, but change around some accessories as your child ages. Change pictures around so that the most current pictures are up. Add in some of your Childs own art work. Different knick knacks will add a nice extra into the room.
Keeping the floor wood may be the best bet to decorating a newborns room. You can add a nice area rug that isn't much in cost. Just make sure that you get one that is stain resistant, and one that isn't too large either. As your child grows up they will have toys scattered in the room on a rug. The bigger rug you have the harder it will be to pick up and clean.
You should be able to easily stay in a budget when you go to decorating a nursery. But of course if you have a ton of funds take advantage of them.
Baby Room Decorating has never been so easy with these nursery room area rugs.
